Illuminated globes often include a detailed political map, soft white LED lighting for a gentle glow, 360° rotation for full viewing, a decorative chrome‑style base, and a USB plug‑in cord with an on/off switch.

Products are often aimed at preschool and early elementary ages (as young as 3 years), commonly 5–6 years and up; some classroom maps are targeted at older kids (about 6–12 years).
