A: Hi, yes the batteries are replaceable for the Colgate Total Battery Electric Toothbrush. To do so, firmly hold the bottom of the handle while rotating the top counterclockwise. Insert two AAA batteries as indicated inside the brush handle and firmly rotate clockwise back into position to close. Hope this helps!

I really liked the soft and dedicated to clean brush head, and the timer. however the battery and the electric part stopped working after 1.5 months. I would take the battery out and need to switch it around. Switching back to sonicare

Dangerous Defect: Brush Head Detaches

I initially liked the Colgate Total Active Prevention Battery Powered Electric Toothbrush because it cleaned well and worked great at first. However, after some use, the brush head started coming loose and would even come off while brushing. This creates a potential choking hazard and is very concerning. A toothbrush should be safe and reliable, and unfortunately this one was neither. I would not recommend this product.

Do not buy!

Dangerous! The head of this toothbrush comes off too easily! I was brushing my teeth and the head popped off and I ended up scratching myself across my left cheek with the base of the toothbrush!

My wife and I already had a Colgate Sonic toothbrush, and we ordered the wrong replacement brushes. There must be a reason this occurred, because we purchased the Colgate Sonic toothbrush for replacement brushes and liked this new version much more. We are glad we made the mistake; we are really enjoying our new purchases.

Toothbrush worked great and I liked the timer, but the inside of the replacement head was filled with mold that was black, my jaw dropped and I immediately threw away before writing this review. Another commenter has a picture, that is what mine looked like.

Power button not working

I bought this toothbrush 4 months ago. I love the way it cleans my teeth. It's very easy to use. However, about two weeks ago the power button started acting up. I have tto push it several times to get the toothbrush to stay on, and sometimes I just give up because the tootbrush will NOT stay on. There is no warranty infomration on this toothbrush anywhere I have been able to find. Maybe it was on the packaging, but that has long since been discarded as I never thought I would need it.

This thing needs to be recalled. The head comes off so easily, I just almost impaled my eyeball with the handle after the head got stuck in my cheek while brushing my back teeth. Now I have a bruise under my eye and my back teeth are still not clean.

Good but grows mold

I love this toothbrush, it works really well. However, when I went to change the head it was incredibly moldy inside…gross!! Had to clean it well with disinfecting bleach. I’ve had plenty other battery operated toothbrushes and none have ever done that. So now I have to separate the head and rinse the inside “head holder” well & let it thoroughly dry. Kind of a pain but I do like it a lot so I’ll keep using it.

Awesome Toothbrush If It Could Reach the Back!

This toothbrush is great as a to-go tooth brush. I like brushing my teeth after lunch and I've always used a manual brush because the electric brushes have weighed too much to throw in my bag. This brush weighs close to nothing! The sonic vibrations are enough that I can feel them going to work on my plaque but not so that it begins to irritate my gums. I definitely can feel a difference with how clean my teeth feel after using this brush. The only downside is that it's too big to reach my teeth in the back! This made me so upset because I really like this brush. My mouth is not small so I think Colgate should rethink the size of the head to make it easier to reach in the back. When they do I will definitely be buying this toothbrush.

Affordable and gets the job done

First impression is that this toothbrush is definitely more affordable and it seems to do the same job as the more expensive brands/models. I switched to this because it is battery operated, and the other expensive ones are rechargeable which I feel do not last long because of water damage which is frustrating since they are super expensive.
