Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Boy’s baggy fit denim shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these adaptive type shorts Target is starting to sell. Even though the shorts are jeans, the waistband is stretchy. I also really love that the waistband has a button adjuster so that the waist can be made tighter or looser. For reference, my son is usually a size 8. I ordered a size 8 and it does fit oversized.

Trendy baggy jorts for the win

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great buy and made my teen so happy. These denim shorts that are made to fit baggy are true to size since my model is wearing at 16 and typically would wear a 14-16. The pockets are spacious and they can be worn with a belt or not. Boys also wear these most of the year so it’s a great staple to the wardrobe!

Comfortable shorts for back to school.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this baggy shorts for my son so he can wear back to school. Not only are they comfortable, but also very stylish. He can wear it with almost any shirt and shoes and it looks amazing. He normally wears a size 14 but 16 fit him better than we were expecting. And they don't feel or look too big.

Overall these are pretty basic

They aren’t special in anyways I feel like they are a good basic short and I like that they’re baggy because it feels trendy for pre teen right now. I’m went ahead and sized up for next year. I think these will work great for him then.
