Common active ingredients include hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, peptides, ceramides, glycerin, and vitamin E. Many products combine two or more of these actives.

They commonly target dark circles, puffiness, dullness (brightening), dehydration, fine lines and wrinkles, and general tired or revitalized-looking under-eyes.

Most patches and masks are single-use. Place one patch under each eye and leave it on for the recommended time (commonly 10–20 minutes; some hydrogel patches need only a few minutes). Then peel off and discard—no rinsing required—and gently pat any remaining serum into the skin.

Sticks and balms are designed for glide-on, touchless application—quick swipes under and around the eye—while creams are applied in small dots and gently smoothed or lightly massaged in until absorbed (many creams come as lightweight gel-creams that absorb quickly).
