Promix seed-starting mixes are formulated to be gentle and non-burning for seeds and young transplants. They typically combine peat (or coco coir) with perlite for a fine, airy texture and low burn risk, supporting reliable germination and early growth.

High-porosity Promix formulas use coarse perlite and higher air porosity to improve drainage and reduce the risk of overwatering, making them suitable for water-sensitive crops and moisture-controlled growing environments.

Promix mixes commonly include sphagnum peat moss or peat humus, perlite (and sometimes vermiculite), an organic fertilizer, limestone or gypsum, and added mycorrhizae (such as Glomus species). Some blends also include coco coir.
