Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    Great product-sizes are off across styles

    I ordered this sweater after ordering size small (6/7) polos that were huge and very long in the sleeves for the long sleeved ones. This sweater does not seem to be the same size, because it just fit with no extra length at all. The size small polos were about 6 inches longer than this sweater. The fact that the sizes don't seem to match up makes ordering the correct size complicated, even when using the size chart measurements. We ordersd a different style of size xs sweater and it was about 2 inches too long, which was just what we wanted to grow into it throughout the year. The quality is great, the fit is great, just the sizing seems off when comparing items.

    Very Poor stitching quality

    Very poor stitching quality; holes opened up along the sides of the arms after the first wash, and the holes got bigger after the second wash. I’ve already requested a replacement and will return this one later, so my daughter won't be cold in her classroom.

    Extremely poor quality, fell apart after one wear

    These school uniform cardigans are shockingly flimsy. My 7year old wore hers one single time each and both the navy ones and the cute yellow one developed holes. And pulls or runs in the weave throughout. I thought they were so cute, so I was excited, but nope. The fabric is thin and weak. Basically as durable as paper. I’ve never had any other clothing fall apart this easily on her. Lands’ End is the only approved uniform vendor at our school (Mason Classical Academy), so parents have no choice. For the price, the quality is completely unacceptable. Do not expect these to last past the first week of school. Would not recommend. Buy at your own risk if your school requires them.

    Soft and great quality!

    We love this cardigan. It is soft and well fitted. I do recommend ordering a size down. My daughter wears a 6/7 shirt but the cardigan is 4/5.

    The worst

    Can you give 0stars? Because even 1 star is too much for this! So thin you can literally see right through it! The embroidery patch was left not trimmed and that patch is actually thicker than the cardigan! Completely useless for its purpose, I can’t imagine this tissue thick cardigan can keep anyone warm! Just because parents are forced to buy it from you as a part of our uniform doesn’t mean you can just give us whatever, shame on you lands end!

    Very thin, cheap knit

    I’m disappointed in the quality of the fabric used for this sweater. Compared to my granddaughter’s previous Land’s End school sweater, this is a much thinner, cheaper yarn. It doesn’t have the weight or thickness I expected. I sure it’s less expensive to produce but consumers pay top dollar. This purchase was not for me so I didn’t fill out the questions below. I am not aware of anywhere else I could have purchased this specific sweater with the school emblem.

    Loose, delicate knit unsuitable for a uniform

    She’s worn this maybe once or twice a week for about two months and it’s already snagging and pilling. Terrible performance for a school uniform - the other brand I bought while I waited for this to come has been worn twice as much and looks better. One star for being warm.

    Both sweaters I ordered got a hole in them in the exact same spot. You'd think you're getting something high quality for this price, and that just isn't the case.

    Not sized correctly!!

    I bought a ladies medium for my 11 year old daughter last year. I had to return it for an XL as theses cardigans are not accurately sized. Lands End please look in to this!! The Rxtra Large is more like a women’s medium. The shirts are all good but this cardigan is not. This is right out of the packaging, it doesn’t have to do with the dryer!!

    School uniform sweater

    Granddaughter wears this as part of her school uniform. Lands End embroidered the school crest. Very easy care. Washes and dries well and still looks like new.

    Sweater was made cheaply! Stitch popped in 3 days!

    My daughter only wore it 3 times. On the third day it was ripped. I didn’t get a chance to wash it yet. I have had sweaters from different companies that last multiple school years. My daughter is in the 8th grade so she doesn’t do recess anymore and changes out of her clothes as soon as she leaves school. It was made cheaply.
