Ovulation tests use urine to detect the hormones associated with ovulation.

A positive test shows the test line the same color as or darker than the control/reference line (two visible lines). A positive typically predicts ovulation about 24–48 hours later.

Strip tests display color indicator lines—a test line as dark as or darker than the control indicates an LH surge, while a missing or lighter test line indicates no surge. Digital testers show clear symbols or words on a screen (for example: low, high, or peak fertility).

Pregnancy tests detect the hormone hCG in urine. Product details commonly describe accuracy as over 99% from the day of the expected period, and some tests state they can provide results up to five days before a missed period for some users.

Some products offer companion mobile apps or let you upload/scan test images to chart cycles and get fertility predictions from recorded results. A few digital tests also include on-device screens or symbols for easy reading.
