Command display strips and ledges are designed for smooth indoor surfaces, including painted walls, finished wood, painted concrete cinder blocks, laminate, glass, metal, and tiles.

Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol to remove dust, grease, and grime so the adhesive can bond. Follow the package directions, and if the surface was recently painted, allow the paint to cure before applying strips or ledges.

The instructions recommend waiting seven days after painting to allow the paint to cure before using Command picture hangers or ledges.

The recommended indoor temperature range for proper adhesion is between 50°F and 105°F.

Hold the top of the adhesive strip close to the surface and slowly pull it straight down toward the floor to remove the strip or shelf. Pulling straight down slowly helps prevent surface damage.

Common strip lengths include 0.5 inches, 1.75 inches, and 1.81 inches, with typical widths reported around 0.62–0.63 inches across listings.
