National Geographic Outer Space Dig Kit

Curiosity brings about the explorer in everyone. My son has always enjoyed the imagination that comes from the National geographic dig kits. Give them the moment of imagining that and explore, that they’re in search of something, and that they eventually find something. This dig kits take a bit of time to chip away, and sometimes they get creative and find other tools and methods too get to their treasures faster. The gym is at the end are fun to collect..

My children all love this item! They have spent quite some digging already and it has kept them off the screens. It’s definitely worth it in value. It’s well made, so it will last for a long time, besides keeping kids entertained.

This kit took my daughter about an half hour to do and she had a lot of fun while doing it. It comes with one half circle that looks similar to the moon. To use it, you take the tool to lightly hit it and then the material falls out until you reveal the rocks inside. There were 5 different rocks inside which were interesting for her to learn about. I took apart the box for her to work on because it was somewhat messy.

We have gotten a few of the National Geographic kits before and we were excited to try this one! My 4 year old son loved digging for the rocks in the moon shaped dig brick. He was able to dig on his own but it was helpful to put a little water on the dig brick to make it easier for him. We used the cardboard container that was in the box to dig in so we could keep our space clean and that worked well. The instructions provided were easy to follow and it came with a guide on the rocks provided. This kit also came with a magnifying glass to get a closer look at the rocks. This was a good educational opportunity with my 4 year old to discuss the colors, shapes, and appearance of the rocks.

Perfect after school activity! Words of caution though: things got messy so prepare to do this either outside or somewhere where it’s easy to clean up afterwards. I was surprised tha my there was only one rock (the box makes you think there may be multiple) but it was easy enough with warm water for my 5 yo to do herself with minimal help form me. Overall lots of fun and she loves looking at her gems.

This kit is a great activity for kids! It came with a magnifying glass, brush, and chisel tool. We just laid down some brown packing paper to isolate the mess. It kept my kids busy for hours over the course of a few days. The gems are beautiful! The consistency of the moon is great; not too hard for my kids to dig the stones out. Overall, I’d recommend this dig kit!

My daughter loves stem activities and this outer space dig kit was a fun project for her. She loved using the tools to find and dig out the beautiful gems. It was a little messy but that was also part of the fun. It's a perfect gift for any child.

This was a great kit. It engaged both our kids and allowed them to share tasks or choose what they wanted to do. One preferred to dig, while the other preferred to add small amounts of water throughout the dig and clean the rocks. We read the information to them and had them identify which rocks matched the image and descriptions so it was a great way to have fun and learn. We used a small water table, which was great to contain the contents and allow for water to pour in.

This item can be messy but the manufacturer took care of that by including a tray to help with the clean up. My 4 year old loved this and it kept her busy for a while. It is great for her fine motor skills too. She loved this item.

These dig kits are always a win at our home. This was very unique since it was shaped/designed like a rock from outer space, which was a big big plus! The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that the tools that came with it were ok, but we used some other dig kit tools that we had laying around that helped made the experience better (ir. Small plastic hammer to hit on top of the chisele that came in this kit)

Pretty cool dig kit. It was rather easy for my 5-year old to get through the plaster substance with the dig tool provided. The information sheet was cool and the rocks were too. My son really liked them. Also provided a magnifying glass.

This is a great science kit for your little ones. My son was able to dig on his own safely and with much enthusiasm. It’s simple but kept my son busy and focused. He had so much fun discovering all five different contents and we were able to read about each rock from the info card provided with the kit. I love how much fun we had with such a simple and educational kit. Bonus points for quick and easy cleanup! I would definitely buy these as gifts for birthdays- highly recommend!

This is a really nice kit from National Geographic. It includes everything you need for an “excavation’. There are 4 gemstones hidden in the rock for kids to dig out. Great learning and great fun!

They loved it! 10 stars according to my 5 year old. This is a great stem project and the gems were so much fun digging out of the “rock”. The only thing that would make this better is having a little more to do. Maybe a polishing kit for kids.

My teenage daughter had a lot of fun doing this “dig” finding the gems was fun. Really neat little experiment to do. she did it in like 10 minutes. its a one time use, hopefully its not very expensive
