I honestly was oblivious to this being a whole new game, I thought it was an expansion! 😅 that's on me! It was really nice to get another set of the game (old one is well loved). It even has brand new artwork on theme. Adorable!!The mechanic of the game evolving with you is unlike anything I have seen. It really adds a competitive edge with every round played and keeps the table guessing. This can definetly be played for a whole evening to night, which is awesome because the new mechanic is an excuse to play EK all night! Haha!I am sort of bummed that this is mainly playable only once through, and with the same group for the best experience. You can reset the mechanic, but it isn't as suspenseful. Or rather, it's hard to pass along to another group interested. Like completing a video game and giving the completed game file to someone else. Of course it can be played again, but its just not the same when you already did all the quests. It is still playable and very enjoyable when expanded fully.Overall, definetly recommend for any!

As longtime fans and players of Exploding Kittens, we were excited to try this out. However, the game at its core is pretty much identical, with the exception of one or two new cards that offer no change to gameplay, and solid additions from expansion packs (like Alter the Future). The new artwork and descriptions are cute and funny, but not any more so than the original game. Upon adding the first curse, we were able to get a sense of the chaos intended from this addition, but actually getting there was slow. Once we had all the charms and curses in the deck, it was admittedly still rather disappointing.In theory, it's a fun addition. With an inexperienced or silly group, it could produce well-intentioned and enjoyable chaos. But in a competitive setting with experienced players, the charms and curses are rendered useless, because by the time they're played, they serve essentially no purpose (other than maybe using 3 cards as a Defuse). The generally accepted strategy that enables the most success for us personally is saving all our cards until the end of the game, and then attempting to screw over or outlast our opponent(s). These additions to the deck are largely useless for this card hoarding strategy. We also tend to avoid taking a lot of risks in our gameplay, so, for example, while I had the curse to limit a hand to five cards, I knew the others had cards to move the curse, so I refrained from playing it until I could be confident it would not be moved back onto me -- and by that point, my opponent's hand was already down to 5 cards. It might work better for another group, but for us, it felt almost identical to playing the base game and therefore a pointless extra box on the shelf.Additionally, the stickers in the envelopes after the first one were excessively difficult to peel off. We love Exploding Kittens and are interested in seeing such attempts to change up the gameplay. For us, though, this really didn't work.

The best part of getting a new version of Exploding Kittens is the new cartoons on every card. Usually. But they found yet another way to make the game exciting! In this version, you have several card packs that you can't open until you win the right in the game. The they become permanent cards, but OMG, THE ANTICIPATON!!!! I wanted to play until we opened them all, but my friends didn't have the stamina. I'm excited to play again soon! Look, I know I could just open them all because I want to, but that feels like cheating and you what they say about that... I highly recommend this version!

This was basically a new take on the original EK. The only thing that changed during the first game was that the cards are magic themed instead of regular EK cards. The game doesn’t change until you play a round. Once you do, the winner gets to open the first special envelope, which contains a card that will allow you to open the charms and curses envelope, which you can’t open until you play a second game and someone draws the new charms and curses card. I feel like this would have been more effective if the C&C card had already been in the deck, so we could access the charms and curses sooner. Isn’t that the point of this new version of the game? To add charms and curses to make it different? That kind of took some of the thrill out of it that we now have to wait one more game until we can get to those add-ons. However, it’s still a fun game, and I love the new animations and unique takes on how kittens would explode themselves if magic was involved.

Exploding Kittens has always been a reliable go to party game with friends. This brings a new twist to the game by adding curses and boons to your deck! I genuinely do like the new powers. They spice up the risk factor with friends! It seems like an odd choice to make it a slow roll out of additional cards than just including them all from the start. The stickers just seem like an extra waste of time as they are so hard to add to the rulebook. I wish there were more special cards to add with larger groups, Overall I like this version, but you're not getting too much beyond the original.

Another 5/5 for EK. We have quite the Exploding Kittens collection (Original, Imploding Kittens, Streaking Kittens, and Barking Kittens), and nothing seems to beat the OG. Now close your eyes (or squint if you're the one reading this) and picture your old favorite OG EK, and then sprinkle some black magic on top. Oh, and don't forget to picture the envelopes. The twists and turns are never-ending, and every time you think you've got it down, YOU THOUGHT!Now, onto the magic of it all. As a die-hard Harry Potter nerd, the words “curse” and “charm” will suck you right in. No, you won't fight Voldemort, but if you're playing two-player, you will definitely be fighting to the death (or to the exploding cat).Two-player feels like strategy. Three-player feels like it could be strategy, but you keep getting distracted while simultaneously trying to convince one of the other players to help you gang up on the third and cackling.It was nice to go back to one of our all-time favorite games but also have it feel like a completely new game at the same time. This is going in the “favorites” cabinet with Poetry for Neanderthals, Bears vs Babies, and On a Scale of 1-T-Rex. (I've hidden Let's Hit Each Other with Fake Swords and Throw Throw Burrito because things were getting a titch aggressive...)Either way, if you're on the fence, flop over to the party side and get it.

This is another great addition set of cards to the game. The secret envelopes plus the stickers are cool and add even more to the game. I like the fact that the cards added have the same color backing. One of the earlier expansions I got the red coloration on the back of the card was off. So when they show up on top of the deck everyone knows they are safe. But this one is good and blends seamlessly together with the rest. The thing I like the most is that each expansion adds one or two new cards to the game without changing the game, having to remove other cards, or learn over complicated new rules. Keep adding new cards I will keep buying them. I had to go buy a box to put the complete collection of 'Exploding Kittens' plus all the expansions that are mixed together in one spot. Here is an idea for you, maybe make a collectors box to put the whole series in including the current and future expansions and to get people to have incentive to buy the box add new exclusive cards with new actions with the box.

I love this new concept of exploding kittens. Our friends had the greatest time and we can’t wait to play again. The new cards and the envelopes were such a cool addition!

Exploding Kittens: Curse You feels like the original game at first, but it gets more chaotic and interesting the longer you play. As you keep playing, you open new envelopes that add curses, charms, and other surprises, so the rules and strategy continue to change.That was probably my favorite part because it gives you a reason to keep playing just to see what gets added next. The new cards bring in a little more strategy, but the game is still really easy to learn and doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are also plenty of chances to mess with the other players, which is honestly half the fun.It’s a great choice for a casual game night, especially if your group enjoys a little chaos.

This is a really awesome version of exploding kittens. As you play the game you can add in new cards with the fun new curse and charm effects. It spices up the game in a fun and dynamic way and I’m excited to play through this more to open them all! A lot of experienced exploders played with me and we all really liked this new version. It would be great for first time sploders as well!

The twists of Curse You keep the game changing all the time. Players have to be on their toes at all times, and the result is an incredibly strategic and fun game.This game draws you in and you will want to keep coming back for more.

If you thought the original EK was cruel, wait til you play this one. I will not spoil it but the envelopes added a new layer of fun and shenanigans to an already amazing game. The curses are a great refresh to a classic, imo. With charms, what you do in earlier games really can come back and bite you! We really loved replay-ability! Recommend it and even more so if you are a fan of the original.

What I liked the most was the unlocking card mechanics. Each game new cards get added and having them brings different flavors to exploding kittens. Definitely a good pick up!

We have had exploding kittens for, maybe 10 years? Longer possibly. And we loved it, so we were excited to check this out. The bonus cards are interesting and the updated graphics are fun. I wouldn't buy this on its own - though I would consider buying it as an 'expansion pack' if there are a few more curse / charm cards as they were pretty cool and add to the game.4 stars because it is a great game and love the additions, not 5 stars because we wouldn't buy it as it is.

I’m going to assume you’ve played the traditional version of this game and jump into what makes this game fun. Let’s start with the new cards - curses and charms and the fact that they impact the game as you continue to play. These cards can move along the players and allow for you to figure out game ‘strategy’ in a way that is different and fun. Now with that being said - these cards cause rules to shift and make it harder to track what strategy you’re going to try than the original version. It ‘s certainly not a game that is the same every time you play or predictable. And that’s what I think makes it a great ‘family game night’ game - it’s not going to be the same game play every time you play it. Graphics as usual are great as well. High recommend.

If you're a fan of Exploding Kittens then you'll probably like this game. If you're kind of over it then you'll find this to be more of the same.The schtick is you start with the base Exploding Kittens game. After each game you open an envelope that is essentially an expansion pack that permanently modifies your game. There are quite a few of these which makes the game evolve over time. But, once you've used them all up, that's it, the game has morphed into it's final form and there will be no more changes after that. It's a fun twist on the original. Fans of the game will love it. If you're new to the game you'll probably enjoy it.

The game starts off as the one you know and love and after the first round begins to become a whole new experience. You slowly add different curses and charms to the deck each round you play, meaning that no two rounds are the same. You'll find hours of replayability as you draw cards to either help you, or hinder other players. I highly recommend this version of the game for old and new players, alike.

As a player of the original Exploding Kittens and a few of the other expansions, I have to say that I love how it gives a twist to the base game. The way they introduced the new cards is so unique, and it's far too tempting to include them all at once rather than waiting patiently for them to be used at the indicated time. It gave an exciting momentum to the game and lots of replayability without getting bored. I can't wait to join it with the rest of my collection!

I love this addition to the game it was super fun, the envelopes added a great touch. I don't want to spoil much but this is a definite addition that is needed!
