Our story: 25+ years ago, Nancy's mom, Granny Peg baked a sweet loaf so good that friends and family started showing up at her door unannounced just to see if she had any extra loaves lying around. That prized family recipe sparked Nancy’s lifelong love for baking and became the blueprint for Bakehouse Bread Company®. Today, we’re still honoring that legacy by baking from scratch the old-fashioned way with plenty of heart, simple pantry staples, and zero weird stuff. And when it comes to flavor? A borderline embarrassing lack of moderation.

    Not Your Traditional Pumpkin Bread

    From the outside, this bread felt really moist and soft, but once I got it home and opened it, I’m not a fan. It is “soft,“ but pretty dry. I would describe it more as a crumb cake type of feel, with a crumbly, slightly gritty sugary topping. Very mild pumpkin flavor, also not my favorite.

    Perfectly pumpkiny

    I think Bakehouse may have perfected pumpkin bread! The moist, tender crumb and pumpkin forward flavor are incredible. I appreciate that the spices do not overwhelm the pumpkin flavor, as they do in most commercial pumpkin breads/mixes. When pumpkin season nears its end I will buy a few extra loaves to stash in the freezer. Delicious.
